SMOOTHIE HEAVEN

As it is bloody hot outside, our cravings for fruity smoothies and green juices kicks in. On every corner in Manhattan you can find a stylish juice bar serving up raw and organic juices. Truly smoothie heaven. We have to admit, juicing is one of the best inventions ever.  These liquid meals are delicious and healthy. Easy does it. 'A smoothie a day keeps the doctor away!'

Our choices for the city's best juice bars:

Juice Press Everywhere: The staff is super friendly, doing everything to make you feel good. You can even describe your symptoms to the staff - tired, poor skin, stomach ache, no energy, cold - they make a special smoothie to cure you. How amazing is that? If you feel sick, you just go to Juice Press instead of seeing a doctor.

Creative Juice Co. (Equinox) Everywhere: Drink your way to better health starts at Creative Juice Co. Starting only one year ago, they already have eleven locations in the city. Their mission is to create a balance between wanting what's good for you and craving what's delicious. Mission accomplished.

The Butcher's Daughter Nolita: So much more than a juice bar. This vegetarian cafe serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and almost everything is vegan. After a night of partying we order 'Hangover Killer' and hang out on their lovely sidewalk terrace.

Miss Lily's Soho: Only coolness over here. Melvin Mayor is New York's first celebrity juicer according to The New York Times. The place to be if you want to join a detox program. Replace all your meals for Melvin's cleansing juices - 48 dollars a day. They offer different detox programs that lead to weight loss, clearer skin and higher energy level.

Juice Generation Everywhere: Since 1999, probably one of the first juice bars in New York City. Everything is 100% organic, they offer a great selection of nutritious interesting juices. Their green smoothies will rock your body.

SKY GARDEN - LE BAIN

Rooftop bars in New York City are a must for visitors and locals; during summer it is a great way to catch some sun and fresh air. New York has too many awesome rooftops with panoramic views, it's hard to visit them all. We will review the best spots on our blog. Stay tuned.

One of our favorites is the 'grass' covered rooftop Le Bain in Meatpacking. The view is stunning, it overlooks the Hudson and the Highline. Unbeatable. We love to come here during the day and play around. The lounge beds are very comfy, the cocktails are amazing and the crowd is cool. Hungry? Grab a crepe at the crêperie while you're up there. Delicious.
There is a dj playing house music; he gets you totally in the mood for partying. No problem, because the club downstairs is bananas. It has a huge hot tub on the dance floor. Do we need to say more?

We can write a very long and detailed review about Le Bain but you can't go wrong with a rooftop that has waterbeds, faux grass, cocktails and mini pools. What more could you ask for?
Our conclusion; a glass of Sancerre tastes just better when you are on top of the world.

P.s. Getting past the doorman can be tough so make sure you look fabulous, baby.

DAILY CAFFEINE SHOT

'But first coffee'.. Yes, this is everyday reality when we wake up. We desperately need our daily caffeine shot to start off our day. Thank god, we live in a city with a real coffee culture. There are so many cool coffee shops where we hang out for hours. We love to chit chat surrounded by fellow 'cafe au laiters' and 'espressionites'. Coffee is a social thing here, it's a lifestyle.
New Yorkers do business at these coffee shops on a regular basis (super fast wifi). Americans like to network the entire day, it's in their blood, so be prepared to meet some interesting people while you sip your coffee.

Our favorites in Soho and Lower East Side:

La Colombe Noho: This is de real deal baby. Very very popular coffee shop with amazing coffee. Simple interior without any distractions, it's all about their coffee. You pay 4 bucks for a a small latte, but hey, wait until you see what 'size small' looks like in the US..

Botega Falai Soho: Not your regular coffee shop, it's an Italian deli. At least 3 times a week we are getting our coffee here. It's the Itailian vibe that attracts us: original Italian coffee (made with love) served by Italian people. Sandwiches are amazing, especially the focaccia with mozzarella. We always sit at the window and watch people passing by. Good to know; Wifi is super fast, so we do many of our Facetime sessions with our friends in Amsterdam out here..

Everyman Espresso East Village: This is an interesting coffee shop, because the Classic Stage Theatre is located inside the building. You will find here great artists reading books beween their rehearsals. The staff is beyond friendly, you feel really welcome. For one year straight Vita came here every day. Her school Peridance is across the street so Everyman was her second home. While relaxing on the outside bench she met some famous actors.

Why Not LES: Best working spot ever. During the day it is super crowded; hard working people typing on their laptops like maniacs. Lots of seating, but sometimes it can be hard to get a seat. Once seated, it's definitely worth the wait. After 7pm there is a no laptop policy; it turns into a cute wine place with live music. We love it!

THE HAMPTONS BABY

The best way to start the summer season in New York is taking a trip to the Hamptons. Summer season runs from Memorial Day until Labour Day. The Hamptons are known for the ultimate city escape during those hot humid summer days. I stayed in East Hampton this time and I felt like I was part of a Diane Keaton movie. Wealthy Americans wearing white trousers, cashmere sweaters and straw hats. Enormous estates, beautiful gardens and top of the range automobiles.

I rather hang out in Montauk where the crowd is younger and the atmosphere more relaxed. Montauk is a surf town where all the cool kids hang out. Relaxing on the beach was my main activity during this weekend followed by amazing dinners.  Fish restaurant Swallow East blew my mind. If you go there, make sure you try the mussels!

Our little roadtrip ended up in this cute old town called Sag Harbor. If I have to describe this town, I would say it's a combination of East Hampton and Montauk. Definitely laidback, but also chique white wooden houses and beautiful sail boats.
Can't wait to go back and spend my summer in The Hamptons. 'Enjoy It Because It's Happening.'

HOLLYWOOD - PETIT ERMITAGE

During my trip to Los Angeles I stayed at Petit Ermitage, a West Hollywood boutique hotel. If you are looking for a romantic get away with your BF, this is the place to be! It has a private rooftop with a swimming pool (with saltwater) and lounge beds where you can have some relax time. It is very quiet, perfect if you want to do some work or read a book.
The best part of the hotel is definitely the magical garden where you can have breakfast and romantic dinners during sunset. Do you see the cute little cabanas in the pictures? You can even close the curtains for complete privacy! :)
Nice detail; the garden is recognized by the National Wildlife federation as a Hummingbird and Butterfly sanctuary.
I guess you totally understand how I enjoyed my stay in this amazing hotel.
